About the conference room
In the past, the Orangerie (Orangery) served as a chapel, a detail still visible in the stained glass within the space. It also functioned as an Islamic prayer room, reflected in the design of the skylight – its pointed shape faces east, towards Mecca.
Traditionally, an orangery is a charming, light-filled space used to store potted plants that cannot withstand the cold during winter. In this way, expensive, exotic trees brought from distant lands and colonies could still be admired by guests. Fittingly, our Orangerie overlooks the herb garden of the De Horst Estate.
