In 1835, a retired gentleman from Zeist purchased an old farmhouse along with a piece of land and had an elongated manor house built. After changing owner several times, the estate came into the possession of Stichting Kerk en Wereld after World War II. In 2001, it officially became the property of de Baak. Today, it is a unique location where development, connection, and meeting come together—alongside relaxation, art, and nature. The original manor house has been restored to its former glory and now serves as the beating heart of Landgoed de Horst.

We not only believe this is absolutely necessary, but we also take great pride and joy in doing so.

Naturally, we always strive to prevent any harm to nature and the environment. But we also believe in giving back. That’s why, since January 1st, 2022, we’ve partnered with Hotels for Trees. For every guest who chooses to skip one or more room cleaning sessions during a multi-day stay, we plant a tree.

Guests can also donate the water they save to a water project of their choice through the MadeBlue Foundation. In this way, we encourage our guests to use water more consciously.

Each hotel room features various artistic expressions, such as poems, unique room names with matching stories, objects, and even curated art cases. Our estate regularly hosts exhibitions with changing themes and artists, and you’ll find permanent art installations throughout the grounds.
