Positive impact with our business operations

B Corp-certified

Landgoed de Horst strives for a future where hospitality goes hand in hand with sustainability and social impact. Therefore, we are taking the step towards B Corp certification. We are doing this for the entire Baak organization: de Baak, Landgoed de Horst, and Hotel de Baak Seaside.

On the way to B Corp

We would love to take you along in our story

B Corp is worldwide the hallmark for organizations that not only want to be good for the world, but also in the world. It stands for companies that link profit to positive value for people, the environment, and society. Landgoed de Horst has held the Green Key Gold for years, but we now want to take it a step further with a B Corp certification.
For us, this means taking care of our guests and the planet we inhabit. We consciously choose local and organic products, invest in energy-efficient solutions, and work towards an inclusive and diverse organizational culture.

With this certification, we want to further anchor our social involvement and show that sustainable entrepreneurship is not a side issue, but the core of who we are. All of this from our purpose: “To be a beacon for courageous leadership as a driver of a more beautiful world.”

Sustainable business operations

We do this ourselves

  • Sustainable mobility
Employees are encouraged to travel by public transport, bicycle, or carpooling. There is attention to virtual working, and facilities support clean transportation.
  • Water and waste management
We actively measure water usage, implement water-saving measures, and have set reduction goals for waste. Recycling, composting, and responsible waste separation are standard practices.
  • Sustainable food concept
Our chefs cook with the seasons, choose pure and local products, and bring the flavors of the region to your plate. This not only makes the supply chain more sustainable, but also shows that the local area has much to offer.
  • Sustainable procurement and cleaning
Our policy covers a wide range of product groups and prefers environmentally friendly alternatives, from office supplies to cleaning products.
  • Sustainability of our locations
Sustainability is not only brought back to the users. Within our buildings, we also choose modern and saving techniques for renovations such as; solar panels, a gas-free kitchen, and LED lighting.

We give back to the earth

We do this together with our guests

We consume water, materials, and food. Therefore, we also like to give something back to the earth. Since January 1, 2022, we have been working with Hotels for Trees. We plant a tree for every guest who chooses to skip one or more cleaning sessions during a multi-day stay. In addition, we ourselves pay extra attention to our water consumption and request our hotel guests to do the same. In every hotel room, there is a door hanger with a request to save water. For example, by turning off the tap, taking shorter showers, and reusing towels. By scanning the QR code on the hanger, our guests can choose which project they want to donate their saved water to.

Green Key

The key to a better world

We are proud to hold the Golden Green Key! Green Key is the leading international certification for sustainable businesses in the hospitality industry. This means we meet all the strict standards across various sustainability themes — without compromising on quality or comfort. We not only believe this is absolutely necessary, but we also take great pride and joy in doing so.
